Multiple Period Photographs of Enzo with the car
The factory retained this car for two years after it was built and used it for the original brochure as well as a feature car at the Brussels Motor . Enzo Ferrari also used this example as his personal car.
This incredible provenance is documented in Ferrari author Leonardo Acerbi’s book Ferrari: A Complete Guide to All Models. In June of 1964 it was sold new to Luigi Chinetti Motors, the first Ferrari dealer in the United States.
Sold by the First Ferrari Dealership in the USA.
Chassis number 4085 would later pass through several enthusiast owners. In 1979 it was purchased by Pete Stetson; he went on to relocate from Virginia to Texas with the Ferrari. In May 2019 Daniel Schmitt & Co. was pleased to welcome Mr. Stetson to our St. Louis facility so he could be reunited with chassis 4085. During his visit, Mr. Stetson was kind enough to provide some period photographs and registrations of the 330 GT while it was under his ownership. However the most impressive article of documentation was a copy of a 1977 letter on Ferrari letterhead where the factory confirmed that serial number 4085 was indeed one of the 4 factory 330 GT prototypes.
Noteworthy features such as the four-headlight front end and its classification as a prototype, which means that while Enzo drove it in ’62 & 63, therefore it wasn’t officially registered until two years later, so it’s titled as a ‘64 model!
Period Correct photo used for the Brochures
All Previous registrations and fully documented ownership history from Enzo himself to the USA Ferarri Dealer to each handful of owners of the car to the current owner. Yes we even have the 1977 Letter confirming the car as one of the 4 Prototypes!
